Sanjhi art is one of the old traditional arts of India. Originated in Uttar Pradesh, this artwork shows the devotion of the Artist toward Lord Krishna. It is believed that Radha used to make these paintings on freshly cow dung plastered walls to woo her lover, Sri Krishna. She pasted colorful stones, leaves, flowers, metal foils, etc. on the walls. Nowadays, Sanjhi art can be found in various places including household items like lamp shades, curtains, coasters, wall frames, etc. In public places like metro station walls, one of the paintings by Ram Soni is displayed. Sanjhi painting pictograms were also used in the 2010 Commonwealth games.
